One of the sad things about re-publishing a book (first by Sheed Ward in 1960, now by Sophia Institute in 2017) is that the product, for all practical purposes, appears to be very recent. It is an older perspective of Christ's Passion and Death. Simply put, there is much more known today about this subject matter, so I would suggest that since the new publisher does not make that clear on the cover (it is only when you open to the first few pages and see the Imprimatur was granted in 1959) that this is a bit deceptive. It's sad to pay money for material that, which never is truly outdated, it can be updated - as one disappointed customer describes about the information revealed very recently about the Shroud of Turin. I find myself noting facts that I have read from other more recent biblical exegeses of the Holy Bible by popular Catholic authors that present a much more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Much more is known today archaeologically than in 1959. That's 59 years ago! I don't know that I would buy it again, but I will finish it since I paid for it.

I initially bought this book with the intention of nursing it as my Lenten read. The book was so engaging, I found myself staying up hours after my normal sleep time just to read "one more chapter." The book is filled with deep insights that remain true to the gospel without pandering to sentimentality. It presents a stark glimpse into the electric charged political atmosphere of Jerusalem at the time. It also presents a touching glimpse into Jesus' last hours. When the tomb is sealed at the books end, I found myself longing for the Resurrection, the true purpose of The Passion. The book truly drew me closer to the sacrifice our Lord and Saviour endured for our sins.It is an absolute must read.

This book is as good as any book have read on this subject. I was continually amazed at the new ideas and historical way the book dealt with this most significant event. I found myself saying to people, “Did you know that....” about several passages from the book. I have placed many markers in the book for later reference. The book is not only about the time period but traces ideas back to the Old Testament as well as relating their importance to us today. It deals with the people and groups involved and what they were thinking and how that prompted their actions. It also discusses the place of and the how of this awful act against the Lord.The writing style is concise and easily understood. It is a great introduction or is viable for someone who has extensive experience with the topic. I recommend this book highly!

This book was supposed to be like new but arrived ripped and has black sticky substance on the back.Also this book had 99% of the same recipes from the other 2 top secret recipe books I have. Too bad that don't let you see what recipes are in the book before you purchase. If they had I would never have wasted mt money on this book

You'd be surprised at how close these recipes are to the originals. I love to cook and these recipes are great. Most of them are very simple and easy to follow. I haven't bought the other versions but this one is great!

This was a gift for my mother. We really enjoy eating out and wondered if we could find recipes for the foods we love. When I saw this book on amazon I thought I would give it a try. My mom has already made the red lobster cheddar bay biscuits, which tasted almost identical to the restaurant's biscuits, which we just love. She has also tried the pasta e fagioli from the olive garden. That was also good. But you might want to add a little more v-8 juice than the recipe calls for. Because withiut it the soup was a little thick. I look forward to trying more of our favorites.

Found the guide to be very accurate and it was very helpful as I planned a trip using Chart Kit Region # 6 .The Guide confirmed some of the questionable areas noted on the charts .Also the info on marinas was helpful in planning a days run as traveling by sail is a longer and slower day - info on fuel was helpful .I would like to have seen a mileage reference chart .A very useful and informative book .

My family and I recently took a three day sailboat cruise in the Albemarle sound. This was covered in Chapter 2 of this book. FANTASTIC resource. The text gave exact lat. and long. of protected anchorages, restaurant recommendations, location of public showers and pump-out stations, local attractions, etc. This is a MUST HAVE if you are planning a vacation on a boat in this region.Thanks for a great book.

This a well organized and written guide. But it obviously includes only the sites that were willing to pay for the advertisement. Several very good marina's are conspicuous by their absense.

I was hoping for a book that would break down each chapter so I could understand the teachings of Isaiah. This is a chapter by chapter book with easy language to understand and questions for you to ponder on at the end of each chapter. I am VERY impressed with the authors! This is a Great addition to your religious library and study!

I've enjoyed learning more about Isaiah. I really like the format of the book; it's a convenient companion to my Bible and Book of Mormon study.

We are always told how important the book of Isaiah is. It was not until I got this book was I able to not only understand the poetic verse of Isaiah but I was also able to apply it to my life. I loved this book and it is one time I loved every minute of my scripture study time. This book was a true gift and I am grateful to had the opportunity to read it. My girls will be using it this year to supplement what they will be learning in seminary from the Old Testament.

good quick reference book. layout is open and easy to read but lacking the details. needs to read up more like uptodate or emedicine. if you have a PDA, getting the pda version would be nicer than the book version as it is too big & heavy.

I am a nursing student and this is the best tool I own. I use this book almost every day.

5-min. Emergency has the (very useful) information of a pocket-reference in a non-pocket size. I find the PDA version MUCH more useful on a day-to-day basis. (I use Skyscape's version--I think there are others.) The bulleted, abbreviated style works very well on a PDA screen, and becomes quick and pocketable, something the hardback just can't do.

Its an okay book with decent tips and information but its really too brief and should not be relied on solely for information. Its a great book for medical students and starting interns and physician extenders.

This is a crucial tool when you're on a busy shift in the ED. It's a practical reference, not a study guide. A patient comes in with radiation keratitis. Do you use steroid drops? Beats me. Thats when I go to this baby. This is my most used reference. Very well organized and easy to use.
