Anthony J. Sonny Magaña, EdM, is an associate vice president of Marzano Research Laboratory and director of the Educational Technology Division. He works with teams of teachers and leaders to support, enhance, and expand powerful instructional strategies with technology. Sonny has served in the field of education for thirty years as a classroom teacher, building principal, district administrator, state technology project director, author, speaker, and trainer. Sonny created and served as director of Washington's first CyberSchool, a successful blended learning program that continues to meet the needs of at-risk students in Washington State. He received the Milken National Educator Award in 1997 and the Governor's Commendation for Distinguished Achievement in Education in 1998. Sonny received a bachelor's of science degree in biology from Stockton College in New Jersey, a master's degree in educational technology from City University of Seattle and is completing a doctorate at Seattle University.Robert J. Marzano, PhD, is the cofounder and CEO of Marzano Research Laboratory in Denver, Colorado. During his forty years in the field of education, he has been a speaker, trainer, and author of more than thirty books and 150 articles on topics such as instruction, assessment, writing and implementing standards, cognition, effective leadership, and school intervention. This is a book that is an excellent companion to "Art and Science of Teaching". It is clear and provides a very good integration with the other book. It also has many different suggestions for how to do the integration. It covers all grades and allows for extension. It would be good for someone who is a novice or an expert at using technology in the classroom. This is a good book and is the book you are looking for if you have any questions about using technology in the classroom.
I purchased this book for a class and was pleasantly surprised by its usefulness. It references research based practiced and suggests technology integrations for every level of experience.
Book was informative wish it had more info of how it can relay to the arts.Not a bad read though.
Good book, the strageties in it are good. The technology is a little old but with the way technology moves, that can't be helped.
I expected to see a bit more research. Good resource for educators for selecting strategies based on need during planning.
This lightweight book lacks substance and depth.
I had some great results after after implementing the first three instructional elements with technology ideas included.
This book was assigned to me for a graduate level education class. The suggestions are not only elementary and basic, but they are not fleshed out. Additionally, much of the content is simply shoehorning old ideas into using a technology based replacement which often seems more time consuming and complicated. Instead of students raising their hands to ask question, they type them on IPads and then the teacher projects them on the board followed by a class discussion.
