This guide will just highlight all the spots which are more popular and crowded. There are so many better places in the USVI worth exploring. Of all the places I have visited there, all of the best ones (beaches, restaurants) were not on this guide. Also, if you like nature and outdoors, make sure to not waste your time on St.Thomas - go straight to St John.
This has more of a "commercial" / "professional" publication feel than joe-blow's cruising experiences. It was a good starting point, but Google research after reading about hot-spots is just as important
We did not have any experience of the US or British Virgin Islands, but we knew we wanted to visit, so we bought this book. Even though you can find all of this information online, we liked having a book to leaf through. it has great information, just be sure to check that it's still accurate if you decide to build plans around anything you find. As to be expected, some restaurants and things go out of business.
